Subject: COM port with an io address, irq and DMA CHANNEL

Hi,
I have a compaq laptop (Armada 1571DM) and - in windows 98 - it used
to report that it's modem had an io port (pointing to com2 address), irq (3)
and a dma channel (6). I tought it was a different kind of COM port and
tried to install it under linux (without success).
I wrote to compaq asking about that modem (reported under windows 98
to be a "Compaq modem 560CL version xx.x.xx" as the ati[0-n] commands said)
and they said it was a winmodem. Later, I heard someone talking about a
compaq armada 1750 which worked with the lucent driver, I tried that driver
but it didn't work for me (maybe because I'm using kernel 2.3)
I ask: does someone know anything about the modem inside my laptop?
(it is a bios enabled modem, and one of the lucent drivers that i found said
that he wouldn't work for me)
or someone with a similar laptop could put those drivers to work
under kernel 2.3 ? (i can't downgrade my kernel, because the drivers for my
sound board in kernel 2.2 have a bug)
and, finally, can anyone tell me the chipset of "compaq modem 560CL
version xx.x.xx" ? is it a HSP or DSP or whatever modem ?
thank you very much
Luiz
