i've got a Mars-chipset LT winmodem internal in my toshiba 2805 laptop. i
finally got the winmodem detected with the modified ltmodem sources driver
that let me specify the device and vendor ID's. my trouble is that the PPP
connection is substantially slower then it should be. downloading a typical
2mb file from various ftp sites with lynx, it is reporting from 1.9kb/s -
2.3kb/s. this is really bad. i'm not quite sure where to start tracking
down _why_ the connection is slow. ideas, any?
