Hi all,
I'm new to this list which obviously is a low-traffic one. A
couple of days went by without a single posting... Is there
anybody out there? Or is there something wrong with my
subscription?
Anyway, I dare to pose the question you all already heard over and
over again. Please forgive me. What is the latest development
regarding Linux-support for Winmodems? My new Notebook has a
built-in "Lucent Win Modem" -- and of course I cannot talk to it
from Linux.
Apart from the very basic approaches along the lines of dial -
listen - hangup; is there any hope that my modem will become
actually usable some time not too far from now? Somebody told me,
that with Kernel 2.4 Winmodem support is to be expected, and that
this Kernel might be available in about six months. Is this idea
reasonable?
Thanks a lot in advance for any new insights!
V.
