Hi,
I have a compaq notebook 100 since two years ago.
I have only linux installed on it, Debian potato
version with Ximian. I uninstalled win long time ago.
:-D
This computer has a via686 sound card and a Pctel
Modem.
With a kernel 2.2.18 the pctel modem It's Ok , and I
can connect with it to internet, and send fax...
Only have a problem if you are listening a mp3, or
using your sound card, when you use your modem your
sound go down, we adjust again with a mixer (I with
aumix), but the sound reproduction go faster.
My solution: load always the module of modem before
the sound modules and after you connect, or unload
sound modules and then reload.
I use alsa modules, because with the kernel 2.2.18
support for via sound card I don't get sound.
Here is my problem:
I have installed a kernel 2.4.x follow intructions on
Debian web. (Upgrading convenient packages).
I use alsa modules or kernel suport for via audio
card. No problem.

I had configured my kernel to agree with this
components, no problem.:)
But when I have installed the module for pctel modem,
I had obtain this in my /var/log/syslog:

I have used pctel-0.8.6 but with pctel 2.4.7 and pctel
2.4 compiled modules I have got the same problem.
When I use kernel 2.2.18 I obtain this when I load the
pctel module for this kernel:

when I compiled this I don't uncoment the line in
sources of AUDIO_ROUTING, and If I do, It doesn't
compile.
I only see this diference between the out of a kernel
2.4.7, could it be the problem?.
