hi,
i checked out caller id in the 536ep modem
and it worked fine. (remember to subscribe to the feature or you will not
get it)
on the second ring i got the date, time, name, and number
so the corecode works at least for 536ep.
i will test the ham later on this week.
-dorian
PS: i am working with 4.43 code. maybe it was a bug that was fixed in the
previous code.
I dont know yet.

I'm running the Intel-v92 440 drivers for the Intel Ambient HAM modem.
dmesg shows these lines when "/etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S99hamboot start" is
run... hamcore module init
ham: loading HaM Release 4.40 INT (kern:2.4.12) - Apr 17 2002
ham: IRQ: 9, DSP-Base: 0xd7001000 (phys) 0xd0986000 (virt) (range:
4k), DSP-Port: 0xa400 (range: 256b)What I do not seem to have is
CallerID information. Since the box says that it is a Voice modem and
that it is a hardware modem, I assumed it at least had CallerID
capability and was Linux compatible. It does seem to take "+VCID=1" in
the init string, but does nothing else with it. When a call comes in,
the serial connection, only shows RING RING RING, but never displays
CallerID data. Does this modem not have CallerID capability? If not,
does anyone know one that does have it and works with Linux? I only use
this modem to identify callers, not to call out, so modem and fax speeds
don't matter. Ernie
