Hi Marvin,
Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the ltmodem-8.22a3 package and tried it
out. It all ran fine, and produced the .deb package fine.

Just one question please,
I am totally new to linux, I have installed it on the Compaq 1692 and then
just tried to get everything to function, without any real knowledge of what
I'm doing.
When I finished installing the .deb package I now have 2 copies of the
package installed.
I have one copy under the dir: DEBAPT/admin
and another under the dir : DEBDPKG/admin

if I open either package it shows the other as conflicting.
	i.e. if I look at the DEBAPT/admin
			ltmodem-2.4.18-bf2.4 replaces: ltmodem-2.4.18-bf2.4
						  conficts: ltmodem-2.4.18-bf2.4
then if I look under the DEBDPKG/admin
			ltmodem-2.4.18-bf2.4 replaces: ltmodem-2.4.18-bf2.4
						  conflicts: ltmodem-2.4.18-bf 2.4

Can I delete or uninstall either one of these without upsetting the other?

Thanks again for all your help and the driver.
My Presario is an Australia/New Zealand model, I do not know what differences
there are to other models ie U.S.

Mike
