Tom,
The a4 part of the 8.22a4 designation is irrelevant as it only
designates the installation code.
But the drivers compiled with 8.22 core code and SMP enabled give no
hindrane on a single processor PC. That I throughly checked.
Volunteers were requested to check behavior on SMP PCs. But Igor V.
Kovalenko <garrison@mail.ru>
was last/only report before you. I've appended the relevant section
below, wherein the last critical comment is:
with "nosmp" or "noapic" options all is working OK.
So you should try out the noapic kernel option.
Please report back after that testing.
Igor,
Could you please return some details about your motherboard and any
other configuration issues which may be relevant.

I have now the card swapped to another slot so it is on IRQ 9 now.
It was sharing IRQ 12 with VIA USB devices before configuration change.
Seems like there is no change in behaviour, i.e. with full Linux SMP
the remote modem eventually hangs up, with "nosmp" or "noapic" options
all is working OK. I'm using this right now.
