Subject: Debian - LT winmodem - Quantex TS30i / Inspiron 7000 help needed (fwd)

Thank you for your responses, I ran checkout and while it loads lt_modem.o
correctly, lt_serial.o will not. It says I have either:
1. Not a lucent DSP modem.
( the checkout said it was lt_modem vendor id=0x115d, device_id=0x420)
The computer manual says its an LT win modem.
2. That I might need to force parameters.
or
3. I have resource conflicts. I didn't put in a boat load of drivers when I
installed linux, and the checkout program tested again with some removed,
and it stilled failed.
Any ideas?
---------------------------------
Its probably trivia.
The wvdialconf only scans /dev/ttyS* ports
so
# ln -s /dev/ttyLT0 /dev/ttyS0anything
Then
# wvdialconf
will succeed.
Afterwards, replace /dev/ttyS0anything with /dev/modem in
/etc/wvdial.conf
OR alternatively, just run the ./checkout which I'll send separately.
