Thanks to all who responded so quickly with help on this. I found out
what I was doing wrong (those 0s and Os look so much alike when you're
not thinking about them; [ttyLTO vs ttyLT0]).
The ./checkout script lead me to suspect a problem with the "ttyLTO"
(not sure what it is exactly, a device or port?) and every other time I
needed to type 0 I was typing O as well. I sure wish having the slashes
through the zeros was more popular than it is.
Again, thanks all, I was able to get Linux online rather quickly after
realizing that problem and can now focus on making Linux my default O/S.
Take Care,
David.
